In this cycle, our students establish, in a deeper and more systematic way, connections between different areas of knowledge, expand their educational repertoire, and also begin to understand their mother tongue, English, and Spanish from an intercultural perspective.
Work with literature also gains a new dimension: students consolidate themselves as literary readers and text authors, capable of taking a critical stance toward historical reality, contemporary issues, and all the demands that the media present to us today.
Based on theoretical foundations, experimental classes, the application of digital technologies and computational thinking, and interdisciplinary projects, both in individual and group proposals, our students develop their investigative perspective and are challenged to propose creative, innovative, and sustainable solutions to real problems. As a result, they gradually become more independent, responsible, and capable of taking on the role of authors in their learning journey.

LC GLOBAL SCHOOL
CURRICULAR ENGLISH 2025
ENGLISH PROGRAMME
Curricular courses that provide an authentic and in-depth language experience up to twice a week.
With the goals of fostering meaningful connections with the English language and its learning, expanding linguistic, literary, and intercultural repertoires, and promoting expression, communication, and action in English, we organize our pedagogical work into ongoing experiences of Literature, Play, and Expression, and Inquiry Projects. In this way, we diversify the possibilities for deepening knowledge of the language and investigating relevant themes, enabling learning not only of the language and about the language, but also through the language. We also expand opportunities for children to explore spaces of expression, creation, and intervention through various forms of language, while valuing and developing their curiosity and creativity.
Two main pillars organize the activities in the English Programme: Language Arts and Nature & Society.

Constant encouragement of authorship and creativity. Opportunities for experimentation through various forms of cultural and artistic expression.

Approximation of scientific knowledge mediated by the English language, fostering curiosity, observation, and investigation.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Our exchange program encompasses language improvement, cultural exchange, and living with people outside the family and social circle. It includes the NOEE (Study Abroad Guidance Center), which, in partnership with specialized institutions, recommends exchange alternatives for students and families.
COLLEGE COUNSELING
A group of specialists within the school that guides students interested in studying abroad and, with the participation of the family, builds a tailor-made educational pathway.
PROJECTS
The activities developed in the semester courses of PROJECT encourage creativity, autonomy, responsibility, and initiative. Students are invited to develop individual or group projects based on themes from their own universe of interest. Always with the guidance and support of teachers, students choose the themes, scope, format, materials, and strategies for presenting their Projects. They are encouraged to reflect on the impact of their Projects in local and global contexts and also develop responsibility when planning, executing, and reflecting on the feasibility of their choices. Language skills take on new meaning in this context, in which students bring into the school culture what drives and inspires them.

IB Seal
The seal IB - International Baccalaureate -
Refers to a program that offers an internationally accepted qualification, including for admission to higher education, recognized by top universities worldwide, including in Brazil.
In 2020, after a thorough evaluation process, LC - Vila Nova Conceição became an IB Global School and, in 2021, joined the Diploma Programme, aimed at high school students. In 2023, LC - Alto da Boa Vista achieved the same milestones.
LC DIGITAL

New technologies represent a complex challenge in the education of children and young people. The digital world has brought forth possibilities never before imagined, to the point of establishing, for example, a network of connections that simulates human thought. Therefore, it becomes essential that our students take ownership of this new universe, which is increasingly present in society.
The proposal of Lourenço Castanho aims at the technological literacy of our students, with shared learning, information exchange, and co-creation of content. However, in Early Childhood Education, we take care to ensure that this learning does not replace the experiences that guide individual development, especially at this early stage of life.
From Elementary School onwards, the presence of technology intensifies and students have access to the Creation Laboratory, consisting of 3 production and creation environments: low-tech and high-tech.

Makerspace
Workshop for building and prototyping projects, using manufacturing with different materials: wood, plastics, cardboard, electronic equipment, among others;

Hackerspace
Space dedicated to the production and creation of electronic and digital devices, involving educational robotics and different programming languages;

Fablab
Laboratory for the production of digital and multimedia artifacts, using production and editing software, a 3D printer, and a laser cutter.

LC CULTURE & ARTS
We understand that the teaching and learning of Art at Lourenço Castanho, from Early Childhood Education to High School, is focused on acquiring and mastering a sensitive system aimed at enhancing students' expressive and communication skills.
From the perspective of being a language, used in its specificity or in articulation with others, Art is, therefore, another language in dialogue with the rest, contributing to a continuous experience that connects knowledge (practical or theoretical) with aesthetic perception (senses) and the exercise of critique (reflection).
Lourenço explicitly includes arts in the curriculum, embracing a greater focus each year of Elementary School. Various artistic modalities are present in each grade as an integrative and transdisciplinary element, such as music and theater.
The city and the aspects of urban arts also have space in elective courses. Art is seen as a form of individual identity, and also as an element of social construction.
