Interdisciplinary projectsbased on various curricular components and supported by field studies, help students research and map relevant topics of our society, in a constant search for information and knowledge.
During this period, they begin to reflect and debate about their own presence in the world, while learning to take care of themselves. Solidarity, social responsibility, sustainability, and interculturality — through learning the English language — become everyday school themes and encourage children to seek their own solutions to contemporary issues.
Accompanied by a process-based and individualized assessment, our students gradually take ownership of the essential resources and tools to make their choices, and naturally become more resilient individuals, capable of advancing in their educational journey.

LC GLOBAL SCHOOL
CURRICULAR ENGLISH 2025
ENGLISH PROGRAMME
Two main pillars organize the activities in the English Programme: Language Arts and Nature & Society.

Constant encouragement of authorship and creativity. Opportunities for experimentation through various forms of cultural and artistic expression.

Approximation of scientific knowledge mediated by the English language, fostering curiosity, observation, and investigation.

PROJECTS
The intercultural projects developed in the classes of the component of English Language bring investigations on the study themes of each grade, which are guided by the reading and exploration of literary works in English.
In the Bilingual Full-Time Programthe research projects address the interests and curiosities of each class and explore themes such as the natural and social world and different ways of living, creating, acting, and being in the world through the exploration and experimentation of various forms of expression such as music, literature, play, and visual arts. Their goal is to expand the linguistic, literary, and cultural repertoires of our students, as well as to foster the development of their curiosity, creativity, and critical agency through learning experiences mediated by the English language.

LC DIGITAL

New technologies represent a complex challenge in the education of children and young people. The digital world has brought forth possibilities never before imagined, to the point of establishing, for example, a network of connections that simulates human thought. Therefore, it becomes essential that our students take ownership of this new universe, which is increasingly present in society.
The proposal of Lourenço Castanho aims at the technological literacy of our students, with shared learning, information exchange, and co-creation of content. However, in Early Childhood Education, we take care to ensure that this learning does not replace the experiences that guide individual development, especially at this early stage of life.
From Elementary School onwards, the presence of technology intensifies and students have access to the Creation Laboratory, consisting of 3 production and creation environments: low-tech and high-tech.

Makerspace
Workshop for building and prototyping projects, using manufacturing with different materials: wood, plastics, cardboard, electronic equipment, among others;

Hackerspace
Space dedicated to the production and creation of electronic and digital devices, involving educational robotics and different programming languages;

Fablab
Laboratory for the production of digital and multimedia artifacts, using production and editing software, a 3D printer, and a laser cutter.

LC CULTURE & ARTS
We understand that the teaching and learning of Art at Lourenço Castanho, from Early Childhood Education to High School, is focused on acquiring and mastering a sensitive system aimed at enhancing students' expressive and communication skills.
From the perspective of being a language, used in its specificity or in articulation with others, Art is, therefore, another language in dialogue with the rest, contributing to a continuous experience that connects knowledge (practical or theoretical) with aesthetic perception (senses) and the exercise of critique (reflection).
Art guides much of the Early Years of Elementary School, as expression and language, moving away from a utilitarian view and continuing to serve as an element in building identity.
The expansion of the student’s cultural repertoire, contact with literature, and the consumption and production of texts characterize art as also having a role of enjoyment. At this stage, the importance of visual literacy (reading images) is emphasized, as proposed by educator Bernardo Toro in *Codes of Modernity*.
