LC GLOBAL SCHOOL

Lourenço Castanho has a range of initiatives that are part of our “LC Global School” approach.so that our students achieve the highest levels of English proficiency, with a focus on the development of competencies and skillsWe are a school connected with the world.

Through other languages, we provide access to different perspectives, discourses, and narratives. Students build knowledge and navigate various contexts.

To achieve this goal, Lourenço Castanho offers:

Curricular English and Spanish

We offer English from Early Childhood Education through High School and Spanish from 6th to 9th grade.

Our courses are part of our curriculum based on the standards established by the MEC, incorporating social practices and authentic language experiences through texts (oral, written, visual, and multimedia).

ENGLISH PROGRAMME

With the diversity of topics covered and an appropriate space for experimentation, students have the opportunity to experience learning creatively, exploring ways to express themselves and develop as speakers of the English language.

Two main pillars organize the activities in the English Programme: Language Arts and Nature & Society.

Constant encouragement of authorship and creativity. Opportunities for experimentation through various forms of cultural and artistic expression.

Approximation of scientific knowledge mediated by the English language, fostering curiosity, observation, and investigation.

GERMAN - PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GOETHE-INSTITUT

Students from 6th grade to the 1st year of high school are introduced to German culture through:

• Language classes up to twice a week in the afternoon;
• Engagement with cultural opportunities offered by the Institute, including exhibitions, musical performances, lectures on various cultural topics, and current affairs;
• Use of the Goethe-Institut's virtual and physical library;
• Application for the Studienkolleg, a preparatory course prior to undergraduate studies at German universities.

IB Seal

O selo IB - International Baccalaureate -
Refers to a program that offers an internationally accepted qualification, including for admission to higher education, recognized by top universities worldwide, including in Brazil.

In 2020, after a thorough evaluation process, LC - Vila Nova Conceição became an IB Global School and, in 2021, joined the Diploma Programme, aimed at high school students. In 2023, LC - Alto da Boa Vista achieved the same milestones.

LC CULTURE & ARTS

We understand that the teaching and learning of Art at Lourenço Castanho, from Early Childhood Education to High School, is focused on acquiring and mastering a sensitive system aimed at enhancing students' expressive and communication skills.

From the perspective of being a language, used in its specificity or in articulation with others, Art is, therefore, another language in dialogue with the rest, contributing to a continuous experience that connects knowledge (practical or theoretical) with aesthetic perception (senses) and the exercise of critique (reflection).

Nutrition at school aims to provide students with healthy eating habits based on balanced menus offering nutritious and tasty foods, taking into account the specific needs of each age group served.
